George McPhee Autographs
George McPhee is a former professional ice hockey player and a respected National Hockey League (NHL) executive. Born on July 2, 1958, in Guelph, Ontario, McPhee played for Bowling Green State University in his college years, where he became a three-time All-American selection. In 1982, he was drafted by the New York Rangers and began his professional career the same year. McPhee spent five seasons with the Rangers before joining the New Jersey Devils for one year. He then played his final season with the Minnesota North Stars in the 1989-90 season before retiring from playing.
After his playing career, McPhee went on to become one of the most successful hockey executives in the NHL. He served as the general manager of the Washington Capitals from 1997 to 2014, during which he led the team to eight Southeast Division titles and nine Stanley Cup Playoffs appearances. In 2018, McPhee became the first general manager for the newly-formed Vegas Golden Knights expansion team, where he continued to have great success. In the team's inaugural season, the Golden Knights made it to the Stanley Cup Finals, and McPhee was named the NHL General Manager of the Year.
Throughout his hockey career, both as a player and executive, George McPhee has been known for his strategic thinking, meticulous planning, and tenacity. He has been inducted into the Bowling Green Athletic Hall of Fame and the Virginia Sports Hall of Fame, and is widely respected as one of the most successful NHL executives of his time. His contributions to the sport have been invaluable, as he has served as a mentor and inspiration to many young players and executives, proving that hard work, intelligence, and passion can lead to great heights of success.
