Gerry Cheevers Autographs
Gerry Cheevers was an accomplished and celebrated ice hockey goaltender, born on December 7, 1940, in St. Catharine's, Ontario, Canada. In 1960, he was part of the Memorial Cup championship team, the St. Catharine's Teepees. At the young age of 23, he began his career in the National Hockey League (NHL). He made his debut with the Boston Bruins in 1961, but it wasn't until the 1969-70 season that he was known as a star. Cheevers played for 13 seasons with the Boston Bruins, earning two Stanley Cup wins and firmly cementing his name in the annals of NHL history.
During his illustrious career, Gerry Cheevers changed the face of modern goaltending by developing the specialized technique of utilizing his body to block the puck. This strategy proved incredibly successful and helped him become one of the greatest goalies in hockey history. In his first season in the NHL, he went 4-4-2 with a .905 save percentage, which was a remarkable start. He played in more than 400 games in the NHL, ending up with 230 wins, 102 losses, and 72 ties. After leaving the Bruins, he played for the Cleveland Barons for two seasons and then retired from professional hockey in 1980.
In addition to his accomplishments, Gerry Cheevers has earned many prestigious honors for his contributions to hockey. He was named to the NHL All-Star Team seven times while also winning the Vezina Trophy twice, awarded to the best NHL
