Gilles Meloche Autographs
Gilles Meloche is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender who hails from Montreal, Quebec. He was born on July 22, 1950, and is considered one of the greatest goalies of all time. Meloche spent 18 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) where he played for various teams such as California Golden Seals, Cleveland Barons, Minnesota North Stars, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
Meloche began his professional hockey career in 1970 with the California Golden Seals and became their starting goaltender for the next four seasons. He was named to the NHL All-Rookie Team in his first season and was among the league's top goalies throughout his career. In 1979, he joined the Minnesota North Stars, where he helped his team reach the Stanley Cup Finals but lost to the New York Islanders. In 1983, Meloche joined the Pittsburgh Penguins, where he played his last four seasons before retiring in 1988.
Throughout his career, Meloche played in 788 regular-season games and 64 playoff games. He won 270 of those games, recorded 24 shutouts and maintained a .879 save percentage. After retiring in 1988, Meloche worked as a goaltender coach for various teams, including the Penguins, Kings, and Lightning. He was inducted into the San Jose Sharks Hall of Fame in 2005, recognizing his contributions as a goaltender coach. Overall, Gilles Meloche is one of the greatest goalies in NHL history and will always be remembered for his contributions to the game.
