Ilya Sorokin Autographs
Ilya Sorokin is a Russian professional ice hockey goaltender who currently plays for the New York Islanders in the National Hockey League (NHL). Sorokin was born on August 4, 1995, in Mezhdurechensk, Russia, and started playing hockey at a young age. He played for Metallurg Novokuznetsk in the Russian junior leagues before joining the senior team in 2013.
In 2016, Sorokin signed a three-year contract with CSKA Moscow, a well-known team in the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL). Sorokin quickly rose to stardom with CSKA Moscow, leading the team to the playoffs and earning the title of KHL's best goaltender three times in a row from 2018 to 2020. Sorokin's incredible reflexes, quick thinking, and perfect positioning have earned him the nickname "Russian Wall" among fans and teammates.
In July 2020, Sorokin signed his first NHL contract with the New York Islanders, finally joining the team after being drafted by them in 2014. He started his NHL career with a bang, making 20 saves in his debut game and earning a shutout against the Buffalo Sabres. Sorokin is considered one of the brightest prospects in the NHL, and his exceptional skills have earned him comparisons to Hall of Fame goaltenders like Martin Brodeur and Dominik Hasek.
