James Patrick Autographs
James Patrick is a former professional ice hockey player who hails from Winnipeg, Manitoba. Born on June 14, 1963, James spent the majority of his career in the NHL as a defenseman. He began his professional career with the New York Rangers after being drafted 9th overall in the 1981 NHL Entry Draft. For the next five seasons, James was one of the Rangers' top defensemen, and he earned his career-best 71 points with the team in the 1985-86 season.
In 1993, James was traded to the Hartford Whalers, where he served as captain for two seasons. He continued to play for the Whalers until the team relocated to Carolina after the 1996 season. During his time with the Whalers, James twice led the team in scoring by a defenseman. His leadership skill, combined with his remarkable on-ice performances, made him one of the most respected players in the franchise's history.
After a brief stint with the Dallas Stars, James concluded his NHL career with the Buffalo Sabres starting in 1998. He was part of a Sabres team that made four straight playoff appearances, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999. James retired from professional hockey in 2004 after spending his final season with the International Hockey League's Manitoba Moose, where he had also been the team's assistant coach. As of 2021, he serves as the head coach of the WHL's Winnipeg Ice, one of Western Canada's most respected junior hockey teams.
