Jan Hejda Autographs
Jan Hejda is a retired Czech professional ice hockey player who was known for his rugged defensive style. He was born on June 18, 1978, in Prague, Czechoslovakia, and started playing ice hockey at an early age. Hejda began his professional career in 1997 when he joined HC Slavia Praha, one of the top Czech hockey teams. He played there for five seasons before signing with HC JME Znojemští Orli, where he played for two more seasons.
In 2005, Hejda made his debut in the North American hockey system, signing with the Manitoba Moose, the Vancouver Canucks' AHL affiliate. After a year, he was promoted to the Canucks' main roster, where he served as a defensive defenseman for three seasons. Later, he joined the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2011, where he played for two seasons before being traded to the Colorado Avalanche, where he played another four seasons. His last season in the NHL was in 2015 when he played for the Chicago Blackhawks. Hejda played a total of 627 NHL games, scoring 13 goals and 84 assists, and was known for his tough, physical style of play.
Hejda also represented the Czech Republic in various international tournaments, including the Winter Olympics and IIHF World Championships. He won a bronze medal with the Czech team in the 2006 Winter Olympics held in Turin, Italy. He also won a gold medal in the IIHF World Championships in 2010, held in Germany.
