Allison grew up playing minor hockey in the Greater Toronto Area and was drafted 17th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1993 NHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season, he led all rookies in scoring with 23 goals and 50 assists in 74 games.
Allison had a successful career as a center, playing for teams like the Boston Bruins, Los Angeles Kings, and Toronto Maple Leafs. He was known for his skillful playmaking, precise passing, and scoring abilities, which made him a vital asset to his teams. He had his best season in 2000-2001 while playing for the Bruins, where he scored 95 points in 82 games, including 36 goals and 59 assists.
