Jason LaBarbera, born on January 18, 1980, is a former Canadian professional hockey goaltender. He began his career in the Western Hockey League (WHL), playing for the Tri-City Americans. After three seasons with them, LaBarbera played in the American Hockey League (AHL) for the Hartford Wolf Pack before making his National Hockey League (NHL) debut with the New York Rangers in 2003. In 2005, he was claimed off waivers by the Los Angeles Kings and played with them for five seasons. LaBarbera also played for the Vancouver Canucks, Phoenix Coyotes, Edmonton Oilers, Anaheim Ducks, and Lehigh Valley Phantoms during his career. LaBarbera had a successful hockey career with various accomplishments, including being named to the AHL First All-Star Team in the 2003-2004 season and becoming the AHL's all-time leader in shutouts with 62. In addition, he was named the best goaltender for the 2003-2004 season and was awarded the Harry “Hap” Holmes Memorial Award, along with teammate Steve Valiquette, for the best goals-against average (GAA) in that same season. During the 2006-2007 season, he recorded a career-high 38 saves in a game and earned his first NHL shutout with the Kings.
