Jay McKee Autographs
Jay McKee is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played defense for 802 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for Dallas Stars, Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues, and the Pittsburgh Penguins. Born on September 8, 1977 in Kingston, Ontario, McKee played junior hockey with the Sudbury Wolves, and was selected 14th overall by the Sabres in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.
McKee began his professional career with the Rochester Americans of the American Hockey League (AHL) in 1995, and made his NHL debut in the 1996-97 season with the Sabres. He played for Buffalo for 10 seasons, and was a reliable stay-at-home defenseman who delivered crushing hits and blocked shots. He helped the Sabres reach the Stanley Cup Finals in 1999, where they lost to the Dallas Stars in six games. McKee's highlight with the Sabres was in 2006 when he and his teammates miraculously came from behind to defeat the New York Islanders in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals.
In his later years, McKee signed with the St. Louis Blues and played with them for two seasons before joining the Pittsburgh Penguins in 2009. In his two seasons with the Penguins, McKee served as a veteran presence on the ice and in the locker room and played an important role in the Penguins' 2009 Stanley Cup win. He retired from professional hockey in 2012 and moved into coaching. McKee's steady and dependable presence on the blueline during his 14-year career make him one of the most reliable defensemen to ever play in the NHL.
