Following his playing days, Devellano began his career as a hockey executive. He worked for 30 years with the Detroit Red Wings, playing a key role in the team's success during that time. In fact, Devellano was responsible for drafting Steve Yzerman, who would go on to become one of the greatest players in Red Wings history. During his time with the team, Detroit won four Stanley Cup championships (in 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008).

Devellano's contributions to the game of hockey extend far beyond the Detroit Red Wings, however. He was instrumental in helping to create the NHL Entry Draft and played a key role in the establishment of the Central Scouting Bureau, which provides evaluation and scouting reports on young talent. Devellano's impact on the game of hockey has been significant, and he remains one of the most respected executives in the sport to this day. Read even more about Jim Devellano at Wikipedia
