Jiri Sekac is a Czech professional ice hockey player born on June 10, 1992, in Kladno, Czech Republic. He began his hockey career in his hometown of Kladno playing for HC Kladno's youth teams. In 2008, he joined HC Lev Praha in the Czech Extraliga, where he played one season before moving to HC Slavia Praha, and then to HC Sparta Praha, where he spent two seasons playing in the senior teams.
Sekac’s talent and hard work on the ice earned him a move to the Kontinental Hockey League (KHL), where he played for Lev Praha, Nizhnekamsk Neftekhimik, and Ak Bars Kazan between 2011 and 2014. His impressive performance in the KHL caught the attention of the Montreal Canadiens, who acquired him in 2014. In his first season with the Canadiens, he played in 69 games, recording 17 points, and playing a vital role in the Canadiens' run to the playoffs. After two seasons with the Canadiens, he played for the Anaheim Ducks, and later the Arizona Coyotes, before returning to Europe to play in the Kontinental Hockey League for the club Avtomobilist Yekaterinburg in 2018.
