Jody Shelley was a Canadian professional ice hockey player born on February 7, 1976, in Thompson, Manitoba. Initially, he played left winger for the Broadview Hawks and later joined the Swift Current Broncos of the Western Hockey League. In the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, he was picked up as the fifteenth round, 286th overall pick by the Calgary Flames. He played for the Flames in 2 games with no points to his name before moving to Columbus Blue Jackets, a team he played for most of his career. Shelley was a tough guy and an enforcer, known for his fighting skills, and was a consistent presence on the Blue Jackets Team. More about Jody Shelley

After retiring from his career as an enforcer, Jody Shelley took several roles in hockey, including being a television analyst for the Blue Jackets, working as the assistant to the general manager in the San Jose Sharks, and now working as a community ambassador for the Flyers. Shelley dedicated his career to helping those less fortunate through various charitable organizations, including the NHL's Hockey Fights Cancer program. Jody Shelley retires, joins Blue Jackets as broadcaster (08/09/13): Jody Shelley played his last NHL game in orange and black.
