John Cullen Autographs
John Cullen was born on April 2, 1964, in Puslinch, Ontario, Canada. He started playing hockey at a young age and showed an early talent for the sport. Cullen played junior level hockey for the Toronto Marlboros and Brantford Alexanders in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the second round of the 1984 NHL Entry Draft.
Cullen made his NHL debut in the 1987-88 season with the Penguins and quickly established himself as a dynamic playmaker with a great scoring touch. He helped lead the Penguins to two consecutive Patrick Division championships in 1989 and 1990, and played a key role in their run to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1991. Despite losing in the Finals, Cullen had a fantastic playoff run, scoring nine goals and 11 assists in 24 games.
Cullen’s career was unfortunately cut short by cancer during the 1996-97 season while playing for the Tampa Bay Lightning. Despite his shortened career, Cullen made a significant impact on the NHL, finishing with 414 points (183 goals, 231 assists) in 621 career games. He was also known for his high character on and off the ice, and was a beloved teammate and friend to many in the hockey world.
