Jonathan Huberdeau is a Canadian professional ice hockey player who currently serves as the left winger for the Florida Panthers in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born in Saint-Jerome, Quebec, on June 4, 1993, and began playing hockey at a young age. Huberdeau was drafted in the first round by the Florida Panthers in 2011, and he has been a vital part of the team ever since.
Huberdeau began his hockey career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL), where he played for the Saint John Sea Dogs. During his time with this team, he won a Memorial Cup championship, was named the most valuable player of the playoffs, and won the QMJHL scoring title. These achievements caught the attention of the Florida Panthers, who drafted him third overall in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.
Since making his NHL debut with the Panthers in 2012, Huberdeau has established himself as a skilled, creative forward. He has been a consistent scorer and playmaker, and in the 2018-2019 season, he set a career-high in points with 92. Huberdeau has also represented Team Canada in international competition, winning gold medals at the 2012 IIHF World Junior Championships and the 2016 IIHF World Championships. As of the end of the 2020-2021 season, he ranks second on the Panthers' all-time lists for assists and points.
