Keith Magnuson Autographs
Keith Magnuson was born on April 27, 1947, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. He began playing hockey in his hometown before eventually moving to Alberta to play junior hockey for the St. Albert Saints. In 1970, he was signed as a free agent by the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL) and went on to spend his entire NHL career with the team.
Magnuson quickly established himself as a rugged, hard-hitting defenseman and a fan favorite. He played a total of 589 regular-season games for the Blackhawks, amassing 1,442 penalty minutes and earning a reputation as one of the toughest players in the league. Despite his physical playing style, Magnuson was also regarded as a steady defensive presence and was named an alternate captain of the Blackhawks in 1975.
Off the ice, Magnuson was known for his leadership abilities and was respected by his teammates and opponents alike. He was also heavily involved in charitable work, including co-founding the Blackhawks Alumni Association in 1987. Tragically, Magnuson’s life was cut short when he was killed in a car accident on December 15, 2003, at the age of 56. He is remembered as one of the greatest players in Blackhawks history and as a beloved figure both on and off the ice.
