Ken Holland Autographs
Ken Holland is a former Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender and current general manager of the Edmonton Oilers in the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on November 10, 1955, in Vernon, British Columbia, Canada. In his playing career, Holland played three seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Western Hockey League (WHL) and was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 12th round of the 1975 NHL Entry Draft. However, Holland never made it to the NHL and instead pursued a career in ice hockey management.
Holland began his management career in 1984 when he was hired as a scout for the Detroit Red Wings. In 1997, he was promoted to general manager, and under his leadership, the Red Wings enjoyed one of the most successful runs in NHL history. During Holland's tenure, the team won four Stanley Cup championships and advanced to the playoffs for 25 consecutive seasons. He was one of the longest-tenured general managers in the NHL, and his success with the Red Wings earned him election to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2020.
After spending 36 years with the Red Wings, Holland became the general manager of the Edmonton Oilers in May 2019. In this role, Holland has made a number of significant moves and roster changes, including the signing of free-agent defenseman Tyson Barrie and the blockbuster trade that brought forward James Neal to the Oilers from the Calgary Flames. Although the team has struggled at times during his tenure, Holland's extensive experience and proven track record suggest that the Oilers are in good hands for the foreseeable future.
