Ken Klee Autographs
Ken Klee is a former professional ice hockey defenseman who played for numerous teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) during a career that spanned over a decade. He was born on April 24, 1971, in Indianapolis, Indiana, and grew up in the nearby city of Fort Wayne, where he began playing hockey as a child. Klee later moved to Michigan to play for the University of Michigan Wolverines, where he earned All-American and Hobey Baker Award finalist honors.
After college, Klee was drafted by the Washington Capitals in the second round of the 1990 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the first seven seasons of his career with the Capitals, becoming one of the team's most reliable defensemen during that time. He was then traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1998 and went on to play for several other teams, including the New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings, and Atlanta Thrashers. Klee's career highlights include winning a silver medal with Team USA at the 2002 Winter Olympics and being named captain of the Thrashers during the 2006-07 season.
Klee retired from professional hockey in 2010 after playing 934 regular-season games and 57 playoff games in the NHL. He finished his career with 55 goals, 202 assists, and 1,009 penalty minutes. After retirement, Klee joined the coaching staff of the AHL's Milwaukee Admirals and later served as an assistant coach for the Toronto Marlies, the AHL affiliate of the Maple Leafs. In 2019, he was named head coach of the Toronto Junior Canadiens, a minor hockey team in the Greater Toronto Area. Klee remains involved in the game he loves and continues to be an ambassador for the sport of hockey.
