Kent Nilsson Autographs
Kent Nilsson, also known as "The Magic Man," was a legendary Swedish ice hockey player born on August 31, 1956, in Nynashamn, Sweden. He started playing hockey professionally in Sweden with Djurgardens IF and later joined the Winnipeg Jets in the National Hockey League (NHL) in 1979. Nilsson's seven-year NHL career primarily revolved around the Calgary Flames, where he made a name for himself as one of the league's most talented offense players. He scored 264 goals and 686 assists during his NHL career, totaling 950 points in 553 games.
Nilsson won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy twice in the NHL for sportsmanship and excellence. He led the league in assists in 1981 and 1982 and was named an All-Star in 1982 and 1985. The Magic Man was also an essential player for the Swedish national team that won the Bronze medal at the 1980 Winter Olympics in Lake Placid, New York. In 1994, Nilsson was one of the first six players to be inducted into the International Ice Hockey Federation's (IIHF) Hall of Fame, and in 2017, he was voted into the Swedish Hockey Hall of Fame.
Nilsson was known for his incredible skill and agility on the ice, creating many memorable moments on the rink during his career. He was a vital player for the Flames team that made it to the Stanley Cup Finals in 1986, earning him the nickname "Kent the Magic Man." His elite puck-handling and playmaking abilities made him a fan favorite and respected opponent amongst his peers. Nilsson's lasting legacy in the NHL lives on, as many new Swedish players credit him as an influence in their game and career.
