Luke Richardson

Luke Richardson is a retired professional hockey player who had a long and successful career in the NHL. Born in Ottawa, Canada in 1969, Richardson started playing hockey at a young age and showed great talent on the ice. He was drafted in the first round of the 1987 NHL Draft by the Toronto Maple Leafs, beginning his professional career as a defenseman. He went on to play for several teams throughout his career, including the Edmonton Oilers, Philadelphia Flyers, Columbus Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Ottawa Senators. Richardson was known for his physicality and defensive skills, becoming a reliable and respected player on every team he joined. He was a strong and reliable defenseman, playing over 30 minutes per game on numerous occasions. Despite never winning a Stanley Cup, Richardson was a leader on his teams and helped guide them to playoff appearances. He was also recognized for his contributions off the ice, winning the NHL's Masterton Trophy for perseverance, sportsmanship, and dedication to hockey in 2008.

After retiring from the NHL in 2008, Richardson continued to be involved in the hockey community. He became an assistant coach for the Ottawa Senators and went on to join the coaching staff of the New York Islanders and Montreal Canadiens. In 2018, Richardson was named the head coach of the AHL's Belleville Senators, a position he held until 2021.
