Legace had a successful career, playing for numerous teams in the National Hockey League (NHL) and establishing himself as one of the league's most reliable and consistent goaltenders. After an impressive college career at Western Michigan University, Legace began his professional hockey career with the St. Louis Blues in 1998. After two seasons as an understudy, he became the team's starting goaltender in the 2001-02 season. He became an All-Star in 2004 and led the Blues to a playoff berth that season, where they advanced to the second round. Legace was known for his agile and acrobatic style of goaltending and his lightning-fast reflexes.
