Marcus Foligno was born on August 10, 1991, in Buffalo, New York. His father, Mike Foligno, was also a professional hockey player who played for the Buffalo Sabres. Marcus attended the Sudbury Wolves of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) after being drafted by the team in the fifth round of the 2007 OHL Priority Selection.
