Mario Lessard Autographs
Mario Lessard was born on February 2, 1954, in Saint-Joseph-de-Beauce, Quebec. He is a retired Canadian ice hockey goaltender who played in the NHL for eight seasons. Lessard started his professional career with the Sherbrooke Castors of the QMJHL in 1972. He was selected by the Los Angeles Kings in the second round of the 1972 NHL draft.
Lessard made his NHL debut with the Kings in November 1978, and he played for the team for the next six seasons. During his time with the Kings, Lessard established himself as one of the most promising goaltenders in the NHL. He was a key member of the Kings team that reached the playoffs for the first time in franchise history in 1982. In 1983, Lessard was traded to the Detroit Red Wings, where he played one season before retiring from professional hockey.
Throughout his career, Lessard recorded 99 wins, 86 losses, and 30 ties in 234 games in the NHL. He was known for his aggressive and athletic style of play and his exceptional glove-hand. After retiring from professional hockey, Lessard became a goaltending coach for several junior and professional hockey teams. He was also inducted into the QMJHL Hall of Fame in 2001.
