Mark Giordano is a Canadian ice hockey defenseman playing for the Calgary Flames of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on October 3, 1983, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. After growing up idolizing hockey legends like Bobby Orr and having family members who were passionate about the sport, Giordano began playing ice hockey when he was just three years old.
Giordano played junior hockey in the Ontario Hockey League and joined the Flames as an undrafted free agent in 2004. He spent two seasons playing minor league hockey before becoming a full-time member of the Flames in 2006. Since then, he has become the team's captain and has been named as a Norris Trophy finalist for the NHL's best defenseman three times. Moreover, in 2019 he won the Mark Messier Leadership award, which recognizes players who exemplify great leadership qualities to their team.
