Mark Hardy is an American former professional ice hockey player and coach. Born and bred in California, Hardy's love for ice hockey led him to become one of the most accomplished defensemen in the history of the sport. He debuted his professional career in 1979, after being drafted from the NHL’s Los Angeles Kings where he spent the majority of his career. He played for several other teams including the New York Rangers and the Minnesota North Stars. Hardy became known for his dynamic and versatile playing style, constantly impressing his fans with his agility, speed, and technical ability.
Hardy's NHL career was noteworthy for many reasons, including his remarkable achievements and passionate dedication to the sport. During his 16-year career, he played 915 games in which he scored 62 goals and gained 368 assists. These statistics reflect his incredible defensive ability and exemplify the skill and craft that he brought to every single game. One of his highlights was his important role in the 1994 Stanley Cup win by the New York Rangers where he became the assistant coach in 2004, and was truly an incredible asset for the Rangers as they orchestrated a dominant and exciting championship run.
