Markus Naslund Autographs
Markus Naslund was born on July 30th, 1973, in Ornskoldsvik, Sweden. At the age of 16, he moved to Canada to pursue his hockey career, eventually getting drafted 16th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the 1991 NHL Entry Draft. Naslund played his first NHL game in 1993, but it wasn't until he was traded to the Vancouver Canucks in 1996 that he really started to make a name for himself.
During his tenure with the Canucks, Naslund became the team's all-time leader in points with 756, and he also set a franchise record with 48 goals in the 2002-2003 season. In 2003, Naslund was awarded the Lester B. Pearson Award, given annually to the NHL's most outstanding player as voted on by his fellow players. Under Naslund's leadership, the Canucks made it to the playoffs for five consecutive years, including a trip to the Stanley Cup Playoffs Finals in 1994.
In 2008, Naslund retired from the NHL, but he still holds a special place in the hearts of Vancouver Canucks fans. He was not only a dominant force on the ice, but he was also a respected leader and a beloved figure in the community. Since his retirement, Naslund has remained involved in hockey, working in management roles for both the Swedish Hockey League and the Canucks. He is also active in charity work, particularly with the Canuck Place Children's Hospice.
