Matt Ellis Autographs
Matt Ellis is a retired professional ice hockey player from Canada. He was born on August 31, 1981, in Welland, Ontario, and he began playing hockey at a young age. Throughout his career, Ellis played for various teams in North America’s minor and major leagues, including the National Hockey League (NHL).
Ellis began his professional hockey career in 2002 when he was signed by the Detroit Red Wings as an undrafted free agent. He spent time with the team's minor league affiliates, including the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League (AHL). In 2008, Ellis made his NHL debut with the Red Wings and played in nine games that season. He played in 27 more games for Detroit the following season before being traded to the Buffalo Sabres. With the Sabres, Ellis played in 224 games over five seasons before being traded to the Los Angeles Kings. Ellis finished his NHL career playing just two games with the Kings during the 2014-2015 season.
Aside from his NHL career, Ellis played in the AHL for the majority of his time as a professional hockey player. He played in 385 AHL games, recording 204 points. In 2019, he retired from professional hockey and joined the Sabres organization as a player development coach. Ellis retired with a total of 356 NHL games played, recording 22 goals and 41 assists. He was widely respected for his strong work ethic and leadership skills, making him a valuable asset in any locker room.
