Matt Greene Autographs
Matt Greene was born on May 13, 1983, in Grand Ledge, Michigan. He played his high school hockey for Grand Ledge High School where he earned All-State Honors in 2001. After completing his high school education, Greene moved to the USHL to join the Green Bay Gamblers for two seasons before moving to the University of North Dakota to pursue a degree in communications.
Greene's professional hockey career began with the Edmonton Oilers when he was drafted as the 44th pick overall in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He spent three seasons in Edmonton before he was traded to the Los Angeles Kings in 2008. It was with the Kings that Greene's career really took off. He quickly became a fan favorite as he was known for being a tough, physical defenseman. He was one of the key players in the Kings' 2012 Stanley Cup win and was also named an alternate captain for the team.
In addition to his NHL career, Greene also represented his country the United States in several international competitions. He played in the 2003 World Junior Championships, the 2004 Men's World Championships, and the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Despite his success, Greene decided to retire from hockey in 2018 after 615 career games. He is remembered as a hardworking and dedicated player who always gave his best on the ice.
