Metro Prystai Autographs
Metro Prystai was a Canadian professional ice hockey player born in Yorkton, Saskatchewan, on February 14, 1927. Prystai played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for eleven seasons, from 1949 until 1960. He started his NHL career with the Detroit Red Wings, where he played for four seasons before being traded to the Chicago Blackhawks. Prystai contributed to the Blackhawks' first NHL championship in over two decades in 1961.
Prystai's skills as a forward were recognized early in his career, with the Detroit Red Wings picking him in the second round of the 1949 NHL Entry Draft. In his rookie season, Prystai played in all 60 games and scored 14 goals and 11 assists, helping the Red Wings advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. During his time as a Red Wing, Prystai established himself as a reliable scorer and gritty performer, playing in several playoffs and winning his first Stanley Cup with Detroit in 1952.
Prystai went on to play for several other teams, including the New York Rangers, the Montreal Canadiens, and the Toronto Maple Leafs, before retiring from professional hockey in 1960. In his eleven-season career, he played in 666 games and scored 151 goals, 172 assists, and had 323 career points. His career highlights include playing in four Stanley Cup Finals and winning two championships, and being named to the NHL Second All-Star Team in 1952-53.
