Mika Noronen Autographs
Mika Noronen is a former Finnish professional hockey player born on June 17, 1979, in Tampere, Finland. He was a skilled goalie who started his hockey career playing for the Tappara Tampere in the Finnish Liiga league in 1996. He was later drafted by the Buffalo Sabres in the first round (21st overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. Noronen played his first NHL game in 2001 and made great strides in his career before retiring in 2016.
Noronen saw considerable success with his career in the AHL with the Rochester Americans in 2002 as he was named the AHL All-Rookie Team and played in the AHL All-Star Game. He also helped lead his team to the Calder Cup Final, although they ultimately fell short of winning it all. He would go on to spend six seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, where he played in only 71 games. His best season came in the 2002-2003 NHL season when he recorded 17 wins, a 2.22 goals-against average, and a .914 save percentage in 28 games.
Noronen would also play with other NHL teams, including the Vancouver Canucks, Florida Panthers, and the KHL's Dinamo Minsk, before finally retiring from playing professional hockey at the end of the 2015-2016 season. Noronen left an indelible mark on the game with his impressive play as a goaltender, especially during his early career. Though his career was relatively short in tenure in the NHL, his achievements and contributions to the sport remain a valid narrative for the longtime hockey fans.
