Milan Hejduk is a former professional ice hockey player from the Czech Republic. He was born on February 14, 1976, in Usti nad Labem. Hejduk began playing hockey at a young age and joined Litvinov HC, a Czech club team, when he was 16 years old. He played there for several years before he was drafted to the NHL by the Colorado Avalanche in 1994.
Hejduk played for the Avalanche for his entire NHL career, spanning over 14 seasons. He was known for his speed, agility, and impressive goal-scoring abilities. He was an integral part of the team that won the Stanley Cup in 2001, scoring several crucial goals throughout the playoffs. Hejduk was also a six-time NHL All-Star and won the Maurice “Rocket” Richard Trophy for leading the league in goals scored in 2003. In total, Hejduk scored 375 goals and 805 points in 1,020 NHL games.
Hejduk retired from professional hockey in 2013 after a successful career spanning over two decades. He was one of the most beloved players in Avalanche history and was inducted into the team’s Hall of Fame in 2018. Today, Hejduk remains involved in the sport as a coach and mentor, passing on his knowledge and experience to the next generation of players. His impact on the Colorado Avalanche and the NHL at large will not soon be forgotten.
