Murray Bannerman Autographs
Murray Bannerman was born on April 22, 1957, in Fort Frances, Ontario, Canada. He started playing hockey in his teenage years and joined the OHL league at the age of 17. He played for the Belleville Bulls and later was signed to the Montreal Canadiens in 1977. Bannerman played for the Canadiens farm team, Nova Scotia Voyageurs, for two seasons before moving to the Vancouver Canucks in 1979.
Bannerman's career took off when he joined the Chicago Blackhawks in 1982, where he played as the primary goaltender for the team for six seasons. He was known for his aggressive style of play, quick reflexes, and his ability to make saves that seemed impossible. During his time with the Blackhawks, he led the team to two Norris Division titles, and he was named one of the NHL's three stars in 1983. He retired in 1989 after playing briefly for the St. Louis Blues, ending his NHL career with a save percentage of .884.
Bannerman's passion for hockey continued beyond his playing years, as he became a goaltender coach for the Vancouver Canucks and then moved on to coach for various minor and junior hockey teams in Canada. He was a great motivator, mentor, and friend to the players he coached, and his impact on the hockey world has been long-lasting. Bannerman passed away on March 11, 2019, at the age of 62 after a long battle with cancer. He was a beloved member of the hockey community and will always be remembered for his achievements on the ice and his kind-hearted nature off the ice.
