Nick Fotiu Autographs
Nick Fotiu is a retired professional ice hockey player born in Staten Island, New York, United States, on May 25, 1952. He played as a left winger and was notorious for his physical style of play during a career that covered 19 years. Fotiu started his career with the New York Rangers in 1976, playing as an enforcer, and earned a reputation as one of the most feared fighters in the league. Fotiu played for various teams throughout his career, including the Hartford Whalers, Philadelphia Flyers, Calgary Flames, and the New York Islanders.
Fotiu was drafted by the World Hockey Association's New England Whalers in 1974 and played in the minor leagues for two seasons. He made his NHL debut with the Rangers in 1976, where he quickly established himself as an NHL heavyweight with an ability to play defense and offense. Fotiu's career statistics are impressive, with 226 points and 1,362 penalty minutes in 646 NHL games. He also played in 62 career playoff games, scoring 14 points and registering 243 penalty minutes.
In addition to his professional career, Fotiu is an accomplished coach and leads the Rye Rangers hockey program, where he teaches the sport to Youth and High School players. He was inducted into the New York Islanders Hall of Fame in 2016, and his physical, gritty style of play served as an inspiration to countless young players during his career. Fotiu was an asset to any team he played for, embodying the spirit of physicality and toughness that is essential to succeeding at hockey's highest levels.
