Nick Libett Autographs
Nick Libett was a Canadian ice hockey player born on March 9, 1950, in St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. He started his hockey career with the St. Catharines Black Hawks in the Ontario Hockey Association Junior League. In 1970, the powerful forward was drafted to the National Hockey League by the Pittsburgh Penguins. He joined the Penguins' farm team, the Amarillo Wranglers, for the 1970-71 season, where he made an enormous contribution to winning the Central Professional Hockey League championship. He earned the league's Rookie of the Year award as a result of his impressive performance. In 1971, Nick Libett made his NHL debut and spent four seasons with the Pittsburgh Penguins before he was traded to Detroit Red Wings.
Nick Libett played with the Detroit Red Wings from 1975 to 1981. During his six seasons with Detroit, he played the most successful hockey of his career, earning the nickname "Mr. Clutch." He is also known for his leadership qualities, scoring crucial goals and contributing to the team's playmaking skills. Libett scored a career-high of 25 goals and 57 points in the 1976-77 season, helping the Red Wings make it to the playoffs. During his tenure with the Red Wings, his teammates voted him as the team captain twice.
Nick was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1981 for an eighth-round draft pick. However, Nick's career was almost coming to an end as he struggled with recurring knee injuries. He appeared in 74 games in his last campaign with the Leafs, his lowest in a single season. Nick Libett ended his hockey career with the Chicago Blackhawks in 1983. Nick played in 861 regular-season games in the NHL, recording 194 goals and 322 assists. Though he was never a hockey superstar, Nick Libett made an excellent contribution to his teams' success throughout his career.
