Nick Merkley Autographs
Nick Merkley was born on May 23, 1997, in Calgary, Alberta. He began playing organized hockey at a young age, and by the time he was a teenager, he was already showing great promise. Merkley was selected by the Kelowna Rockets in the first round of the 2012 WHL Bantam Draft and made his WHL debut during the 2013-14 season. He quickly established himself as one of the league's top offensive players and helped lead the Rockets to a WHL Championship in 2015.
Merkley's success in the WHL led him to be drafted by the Arizona Coyotes in the first round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft. He spent the next few seasons developing his game in the AHL, with occasional call-ups to the NHL. However, he had to overcome some major setbacks during this time, including a torn ACL in 2017 and a broken jaw in 2018. Despite these challenges, Merkley continued to work hard and improve his game. He made his NHL debut with the Coyotes during the 2019-20 season and scored his first career NHL goal in February 2020.
Today, Merkley is considered one of the top prospects in the Coyotes organization. Known for his speed and offensive skill, he has the potential to become a top-six forward in the NHL. He continues to work hard and hone his abilities, with a particular focus on improving his defensive game.
