Niko Dimitrakos Autographs
Niko Dimitrakos is a former professional ice hockey player born on May 21, 1979, in Somerville, New Jersey. He spent his childhood moving around the United States as his father worked in the military. However, he started his hockey career at the age of four after moving to a town near Chicago. Dimitrakos began his college career with the University of Maine's ice hockey team, Black Bear. In the 2000-2001 season, he was named the team's MVP and went on to play for the AHL affiliate of the San Jose Sharks - the Cleveland Barons.
In the 2003-2004 season, Dimitrakos made his debut in the NHL with the San Jose Sharks. He played with the team for three seasons before being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers. Dimitrakos played with the Flyers for one season before returning to the Sharks for the 2007-2008 season. After injuries and decreased playing time, Dimitrakos signed with the Kloten Flyers in Switzerland's National League A. He returned to North America, signing with the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) before retiring from ice hockey in 2011.
Niko Dimitrakos had a successful hockey career in both Canada and the United States. He played in 158 NHL games, scored 26 goals, and 45 assists. However, Dimitrakos’s international experience is one of his career highlights. In the 2003 IIHF World Championships, he led the Greek National team to a bronze medal. Dimitrakos currently works as a development coach for the San Jose Sharks and continues to support the local community's ice hockey programs through coaching and fundraising.
