Oskar Lindblom is a Swedish professional ice hockey winger, currently playing for the Philadelphia Flyers of the National Hockey League (NHL). He was born on August 15, 1996, in Gävle, Sweden. Lindblom began playing hockey at a young age and developed his skills in his hometown. At age 16, he joined Brynäs IF in the Swedish Hockey League (SHL) and played for them for four seasons.
Despite being drafted in the fifth round, 138th overall, by the Flyers in the 2014 NHL Entry Draft, Lindblom remained in Sweden for another two seasons. He finally made his NHL debut in October 2017 and played 23 games in his first season with the Flyers. Lindblom quickly became an integral part of the team and was known for his strong work ethic, gritty play, and his ability to score goals. In the 2019-2020 season, he scored 11 goals and 18 points in 30 games before being diagnosed with a rare type of bone cancer called Ewing's sarcoma in December 2019.
Despite undergoing treatment, Lindblom never gave up on his hockey career and continued to train during his ordeal. His resilience and dedication impressed many, and he returned to the ice on August 13, 2020, for the first time since his diagnosis. He made his playoff debut in Round 2 of the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs and played a crucial role in the Flyers' top-nine forwards. Lindblom has become an inspiration to many on and off the ice, and his determination to fight against the odds has earned him respect and admiration from hockey fans worldwide.
