Pat Quinn, born on January 29, 1943, was a renowned ice hockey player and coach, born in Vancouver, Canada. Quinn started his hockey career as a defenseman in the Western Hockey League and became known for his physicality and robust play style. In 1968, Quinn made his NHL debut as a player with the Toronto Maple Leafs. He went on to play eight seasons in the league for teams like the Atlanta Flames, Vancouver Canucks, and Philadelphia Flyers. Quinn's passion and interest in ice hockey transcended his playing days, and he went on to coach several of the NHL teams. He coached Philadelphia Flyers, Vancouver Canucks, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Edmonton Oilers, where he won the Jack Adams Award as the NHL's best coach twice. Among Quinn's most significant accomplishments as a coach was leading Canada's men's Olympic hockey team to gold at the 2002 Winter Games in Salt Lake City. Under his guidance, Team Canada beat Team USA in the gold medal game. He also coached Team Canada to gold at the 2004 World Cup of Hockey.

Quinn was well-regarded in the hockey community for his passion and extensive knowledge of the sport. He was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2016, an honor recognizing his inspiring career as a player, coach, and contributor to the development and success of Canadian ice hockey. Throughout his hockey journey, Pat Quinn continually exemplified the values that made the sport great, including commitment, leadership, and a love for the game.
