Pete Mahovlich Autographs
Pete Mahovlich is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey player who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 16 seasons. Born on October 10, 1946, in Timmins, Ontario, Mahovlich played as a forward and was known for his versatility and size, standing at six feet and five inches tall. He started his hockey career playing for the St. Catharines Teepees in the Ontario Hockey Association before being drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1963.
Mahovlich played for the Detroit Red Wings for three seasons before moving to the Montreal Canadiens in 1967. His time with the Canadiens would be his most successful, as he won two Stanley Cup championships in 1971 and 1973. During his time with the Canadiens, Mahovlich had a reputation for scoring important goals in critical moments, earning the nickname "the Big M." He also played for the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Toronto Maple Leafs before retiring in 1982. Over the course of his career, Mahovlich scored 288 goals and 485 assists in 884 regular season games, cementing his legacy as a skilled and versatile hockey player.
Mahovlich was also a member of the Canadian national hockey team that won the 1972 Summit Series against the Soviet Union, playing a crucial role in securing the victory for Canada. After retiring from hockey, Mahovlich was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1992, and the Canadiens retired his No. 27 jersey. He also went on to work in the financial industry as a securities representative and was an active member of the NHL Alumni Association, dedicated to promoting the welfare of former NHL players.
