Peter Zezel Autographs
Peter Zezel was born on April 22, 1965 in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He began his hockey career playing junior hockey for the Toronto Marlboros of the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), where he quickly established himself as a talented forward. Drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the second round of the 1983 NHL Entry Draft, Zezel made his NHL debut on October 6, 1984, becoming an instant favorite of fans with his skillful play and a fierce competitiveness.
Over the course of his 15-year NHL career, Zezel played for numerous teams, including the St. Louis Blues, Toronto Maple Leafs, Dallas Stars, and Vancouver Canucks. Known for his faceoff skills and solid penalty killing abilities, Zezel was a valuable player for every team he played for. He was especially well-known for his time playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs, where he was an instrumental part of the team's success during the 1992-1993 season, when they made it to the conference finals. Zezel retired from professional hockey in 1999 with 219 goals and 389 assists in 873 career games.
In addition to his professional hockey career, Zezel was also known for his humanitarian efforts. In 1991, he established the Peter Zezel Memorial Cup, which raised funds for the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. After the tragic death of Zezel from complications related to hemolytic anemia in 2009, the Cup was renamed the Peter Zezel Memorial Trophy in his honor. Zezel's tremendous talent on the ice and commitment to giving back to his community continue to make him a beloved figure in the hockey world.

Scarborough street to be named in memory of Peter Zezel (02/28/2014): Hockey great and Scarborough native Peter Zezel will be honoured with a street named for him, community councillors were told this week. Zezel Way will be part of a new townhouse development close to the Ellesmere Rapid Transit Station.
