Raffi Torres Autographs
Raffi Torres was born on October 8th, 1981, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. He began his hockey career at the age of 16, playing for the Brampton Battalion in the Ontario Hockey League. In 2000, he was drafted fifth overall by the New York Islanders and made his NHL debut the following season.
Over his 16-year NHL career, Torres played for eight different teams including the Edmonton Oilers, Vancouver Canucks, and San Jose Sharks. Known for his physical playing style, Torres was considered a powerful forward who could change the momentum of a game with a big hit or a timely goal. He was often considered a fan favorite thanks to his toughness, work ethic, and ability to step up in high-pressure situations.
However, Torres' career and reputation were often marred by a series of highly controversial hits, resulting in a number of suspensions and fines from the NHL. In 2014, he was suspended for 22 games for a hit on Anaheim Ducks player, Jakob Silfverberg, which ultimately ended his hockey career. Despite the controversy surrounding his playing style, Torres remains a respected and accomplished player, having won both the Stanley Cup and Olympic gold in his career.
