Richard Smehlik Autographs
Richard Smehlik is a former professional ice hockey player born on January 23, 1970, in Ostrava, Czechoslovakia. He started playing hockey at a young age and eventually moved to the United States to pursue his career in the sport. He played defense and was known for his durability and physicality on the ice.
Smehlik was drafted in the second round by the Buffalo Sabres in 1990 and subsequently played for the team for eight seasons. He was part of the team that made it to the Stanley Cup finals in 1999 but unfortunately lost. He played for the Florida Panthers for three seasons before finishing his career with the Atlanta Thrashers in 2003. Overall, Smehlik played 580 regular-season games in the National Hockey League (NHL), scoring 36 goals and notching 97 assists.
After retiring from hockey, Smehlik went on to coach youth hockey and occasionally served as an assistant coach for the Czech Republic national team. He also started a company that provided hockey training and development services. Throughout his playing and coaching career, Smehlik was considered a respected and influential figure in the hockey world.
