Rick Jeanneret Autographs
Rick Jeanneret is a Canadian sportscaster and commentator who is best known for his work covering the Buffalo Sabres. He was born in St. Catharines, Ontario in 1942, and attended Ryerson University in Toronto. Jeanneret began his broadcasting career while still in college, announcing hockey games on local radio stations in Ontario. In 1971, he was hired as the play-by-play announcer for the Buffalo Sabres, where he remains to this day.
Throughout his career, Jeanneret has become known for his energetic and colorful commentary style. He is perhaps best known for his iconic calls, such as "May Day!" for Brad May’s series-winning goal in the 1993 playoffs, and "La-la-la-LaFontaine!" for Pat LaFontaine’s memorable goals. However, his contributions to the sport of hockey go beyond just his commentary work. In 1984, Jeanneret was awarded the Foster Hewitt Memorial Award by the Hockey Hall of Fame, in recognition of his outstanding contributions to hockey broadcasting.
Perhaps Jeanneret's greatest contribution to hockey lies in the way he has helped to shape the game for future generations. Throughout his more than 50 years of broadcasting experience, he has inspired countless young fans to get involved with the sport, and has helped to create a lasting legacy for hockey in the Buffalo area.
