Rick Martin Autographs

Rick Martin, born in 1951 in Verdun, Quebec, Canada, was a professional ice hockey player known for his remarkable speed and shooting ability. He began his hockey career in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) with the Quebec Remparts in 1967, where he quickly gained a reputation as a budding star. In his final season with the Remparts, Martin set a then-QMJHL record with 72 goals in just 57 games, earning him the league's Most Valuable Player award.
After his impressive performance in the QMJHL, Martin was drafted in the first round, fifth overall, by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1971 NHL Amateur Draft. He quickly established himself as one of the league's top forwards, playing for the Sabres from 1971 to 1981. Along with teammates Gilbert Perreault and Rene Robert, Martin formed the "French Connection" line, which became one of the most dynamic and productive lines in NHL history. During his career, Martin scored 384 goals and 317 assists in 685 games, earning him six NHL All-Star selections.
Despite his success on the ice, Martin's life was cut tragically short. In 2011, at the age of 59, he suffered a fatal heart attack while driving. In his memory, the Sabres retired his jersey number 7, joining Perreault's number 11 and Robert's number 14 in the rafters of the KeyBank Center. Martin's impressive legacy continues to live on, inspiring generations of hockey players who strive for greatness both on and off the ice.
