Robert Reichel Autographs
Robert Reichel was born on June 25, 1971 in Litvinov, Czechoslovakia. Reichel started playing hockey at a very young age and began his professional career at the age of 16 in the Czechoslovak First Ice Hockey League. He played for HC Litvinov for eight seasons before being drafted by Calgary Flames in the 3rd round of the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.
Reichel played his first NHL season with the Flames in the 1990-91 season. He scored 35 points in his rookie year and helped the Flames win the Presidents' Trophy. In 1992-93, he scored a career-high 40 goals and 79 points. He then moved on to the New York Islanders and the Phoenix Coyotes before joining the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1998. In Toronto, Reichel played his best hockey, scoring 40 goals and 83 points in the 1998-99 season. He was also a key player on the Czech national team, winning gold medals at the Olympics in 1998 and the World Championships in 1996 and 1999.
Reichel retired from professional hockey in 2006, but continued to stay involved in the sport. He became a hockey coach, working with the Czech national team, HC Litvinov, and HC Trinec. Reichel was inducted into his hometown hockey club’s Hall of Fame in 2018. His career in hockey spanning across three decades has earned him recognition as one of the best hockey players in the history of Czech hockey.
