Roman Josi is a professional ice hockey player from Switzerland, who currently serves as the captain of the Nashville Predators in the National Hockey League (NHL). Born on June 1, 1990, in Bern, Switzerland, Josi started playing hockey at a young age and quickly rose through the ranks of Swiss hockey. He made his professional debut with SC Bern in the Swiss National League A (NLA) in 2007, at the age of 17, and played three seasons with the team before being drafted by the Predators in 2008.
In 2010, Josi left Switzerland to pursue a career in North America and joined the Milwaukee Admirals, the American Hockey League (AHL) affiliate of the Nashville Predators. He played for the team for two seasons, during which he became one of the top prospects in the Predators' organization. Josi made his NHL debut with Nashville in November 2011 and quickly established himself as one of the team's top defensemen. In 2013, he signed a seven-year contract with the Predators, cementing his position as a key player for the team.
Throughout his NHL career, Josi has established himself as one of the top defensemen in the league, earning multiple accolades and awards along the way. He has been named an NHL All-Star on multiple occasions and was awarded the Norris Trophy as the league's best defenseman in 2020. Josi is also a regular member of the Swiss national team and has represented his country in several international tournaments, including the Winter Olympics and the World Championships.
