Ron Greschner Autographs
Ron Greschner is a retired professional ice hockey defenceman who played in the National Hockey League (NHL) for 16 seasons. Born on December 22, 1954, in Kitchener, Ontario, Ron was the 40th overall pick by the New York Rangers in the 1974 NHL draft. Greschner made his NHL debut in 1974 and played his entire career with the Rangers until 1990. He was known for his smooth skating, offensive skills, and tenacity on the ice.
Ron Greschner was a crucial part of the Rangers' success in the late 1970s and early 1980s. He was a powerful scorer, and his slapshot was a renowned weapon when it came to power-play opportunities. Greschner made three All-Star appearances during his career, and in 1982, he was the highest-scoring defenceman in the playoffs, leading the Rangers to the Stanley Cup Final against the New York Islanders. He would later serve as team captain for the Rangers from 1986 to 1988, and in 2003, he was inducted into the franchise's Hall of Fame.
Once his playing career was over, Greschner remained committed to the game of hockey as a coach and scout. He has coached in various minor league teams and was an assistant coach for the Rangers from 1995 to 1997. He also worked as a scout for the Vancouver Canucks and the Columbus Blue Jackets. Today, Ron Greschner is admired by many as a premier NHL defenceman and continues to be celebrated as one of the greatest New York Rangers players of all time.
