Rostislav Klesla is a retired professional hockey player from Czech Republic. He was born on March 21, 1982, in Novy Jicin, Czech Republic. Klesla started playing hockey at a young age and joined the youth program at LHK Jestřábi Prostějov. His dedication and talent quickly caught the eye of several scouts and he was selected in the first round of the 2000 NHL Entry Draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.
Klesla made his NHL debut with the Blue Jackets on October 10, 2000, at the age of 18. He quickly established himself as a solid defenseman with a physical style of play that earned him the nickname "Klesla Bomb." He spent 14 seasons in the NHL, playing for the Blue Jackets, Phoenix Coyotes, Buffalo Sabres, and Washington Capitals. Over the course of his career, he scored 48 goals, 111 assists, and participated in two NHL All-Star games.
Despite his successes, Klesla's career was plagued by injuries. In 2012, he suffered a concussion that caused him to miss a significant portion of the season. After struggling to regain his form, he was traded to the Buffalo Sabres in 2013. He played only 13 games with the Sabres before being traded to the Washington Capitals, where he retired at the end of the season. Klesla's dedication, talent, and physical style of play made him a fan favorite throughout his career and he remains a memorable figure in the world of hockey.
