Rostislav Olesz Autographs
Rostislav Olesz is a retired Czech professional ice hockey player, who was born on October 10, 1985. He began his hockey career when he joined the HC Verva Litvínov in the Czech league in the 2000/2001 season. His talent caught the eye of the Florida Panthers, who drafted him in the first round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2004. In his first season for the Panthers, he posted ten goals and 14 assists, but his career was plagued with injuries which hindered his progress in the NHL.
Olesz played for seven seasons in the NHL, five of those seasons were for the Florida Panthers, and one season each for the Chicago Blackhawks and the New Jersey Devils. He tallied a total of 57 goals and 75 assists in his NHL career, playing in 365 games. However, he also played in Europe, where he had a successful stint in the Swiss National League A for two seasons. In the 2015/2016 season, he played for Linköping HC in Sweden before announcing his retirement in 2017 due to lingering injuries.
Despite not being a successful player in the NHL, Olesz was still considered one of the most promising players in the Czech Republic. He represented the Czech Republic in international tournaments, starting with the under 18 World Junior Championships in 2002, and he also played in the World Junior Championships in 2004 and 2005. In 2006, he played for the Czech national team at the Winter Olympics in Turin, Italy, and then again at the World Championships from 2005 to 2007. His contribution helped the Czech Republic win the bronze medal in the 2006 Winter Olympics.
