Scott Thornton Autographs
Scott Thornton is a retired Canadian ice hockey player who was born on January 9, 1971, in London, Ontario. He began his hockey career as a junior player with the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) during the 1987-88 season, where he quickly established himself as a physical force on the ice. His imposing size and strength were quickly recognized by the NHL scouts, and he was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs as the third overall pick in the 1989 NHL Entry Draft.
Thornton began his professional career with the Maple Leafs in the 1991-92 season, but he was soon traded to the Edmonton Oilers in 1996, where he had some of his best seasons. He became known as one of the league's most formidable power forwards, with a rare combination of size, strength, and scoring ability. Over his 17-year NHL career, he played with six different teams, including the Montreal Canadiens, the San Jose Sharks, the Los Angeles Kings, and the Dallas Stars. He finished his career with 285 goals, 375 assists, and 660 points in 941 career games.
Thornton was known for his work ethic, dedication, and his leadership both on and off the ice. His success on the ice was matched by his contributions off the ice where he was a mentor to younger players and an active contributor to numerous charitable organizations. Thornton is regarded as one of the most respected players in the NHL, and his impact on the game will be felt for many years to come.
