Sergei Fedorov was born on December 13, 1969, in Pskov, Russia. He began playing hockey at a young age and joined the CSKA Moscow team in 1986. Fedorov quickly became a standout player and was noticed by NHL scouts. He was drafted by the Detroit Red Wings in 1989, and in his first season with the team, he was named the NHL's Rookie of the Year.
Fedorov played for the Red Wings for 13 seasons and became one of the team's most dominant players. He was known for his speed, agility, and offensive skills, and played a key role in helping the Red Wings win three Stanley Cup championships in 1997, 1998, and 2002. He was also a three-time winner of the Selke Trophy, which is awarded to the NHL's best defensive forward.
In addition to his success with the Red Wings, Fedorov also played for the Anaheim Ducks, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Washington Capitals during his NHL career. He retired from professional hockey in 2012, and in 2015, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame.
